Brighton Wrestler Luke Ready ranked among nation’s top juniors by Associated Wrestling Press

The Associated Wrestling Press recently released their list of the top pound-for-pound juniors in the country and among those featured in the rankings was Brighton’s own Luke Ready.  The rankings featured the top 100 wrestlers from across the country who are in the graduating class of 2017, regardless of weight class.  Ready, who finished 4th in the state last year at 189lbs as a sophomore, was ranked as the #75 wrestler in the junior class.  Ready had a tremendous off-season that included a National Runner-Up finish at the Cadet Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, ND.  He also finished 5th in the Cadet Greco Nationals and won the Ohio Tournament of Champions last April.  Click here to view the full rankings from the Associated Wrestling Press.

Bulldogs unveil 2014-15 Schedule

“We have lofty expectations for this year’s squad with a solid team filled with seasoned veterans who are ready to compete with the state’s best,” said Head Coach Tony Greathouse. “We built our schedule with the goal in mind of preparing these guys to be competitive at the end of the year and to have the experience to compete for state titles in Battle Creek and Auburn Hills.  You cannot be the best without being able to beat the best, so we sought out the best possible competition with that idea in mind.”

The Bulldogs return 5 state qualifiers, including returning all-staters Luke Ready (4th at 189) and Nick Brish (6th at 171).  The Dogs finished the season ranked #4 in the state last year.

The 2014-15 schedule starts out with a bang, wrestling the 2013 and 2014 Division 1 State Champions Detroit Catholic Central in Novi at their annual assembly dual on December 10th, which will be featured live on FloWrestling.

Other highlights in the 14-15 schedule include a trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Mat Mayhem Duals that will feature top squads from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.  The Dogs will also wrestle on the Big Ten stage, competing in East Lansing against returning Division 2 State Champions Lowell High School prior to the Michigan State-Wisconsin Dual at Jenison Fieldhouse on January 25th.
