Girls Gymnastics Helping at “Day of Caring”

This past Wednesday, the BHS Varsity girls Gymnastics Team and the Howell Varsity girls Gymnastics team worked side by side at Livingston County’s “Day of Caring,” sponsored by United Way. The team was scheduled to do outdoor maintenance at Highlander Way Middle School, but when they arrived, the work had already been done. They called their contact person to inquire if there was more work somewhere, who sent them to another work site at a residential home of an elderly woman in Howell. When they arrived, they were greeted with an overgrown yard. The girls weeded, trimmed trees, spread two truckloads of mulch, and painted the owner’s laundry room. The girls were so eager to help this woman with their strong bodies that are a result of hours of practice in the gym, and the homeowner was so grateful to have the girls!

The BHS girls who helped were: Sophomores Caitlin Barry, Carley Hess, Junior Margo Mekjian, and Senior Annie Martini.
